ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a mixed-media visual artist and consulting astrologer, creating and reflecting from my Hudson, Massachusetts studio. My journey in art and astrology has been essential for maintaining equilibrium during these challenging times. Both disciplines reinforce a profound truth: disconnection from the natural world severs our ties to the creative essence that is vital for our empowerment, purpose, and meaning.
Art, for me, is a means to reweave these essential threads, restoring our sense of unity with the vast cosmos. Through my work, I aspire to kindle a sense of wonder in others, exploring the unseen aspects of the natural world with passion and creativity, and manifesting this invisible beauty into tangible reality.
The inspiration behind this series,“The Art & Alchemy of Fruits and Vegetables,” partly stems from my Grandmother, Elsa Edson Breed, and a little book of pressed seaweeds she made called, “Ocean Gems.” Although we never met, I feel a profound connection with her that transcends the boundaries between our worlds.
I view my current work as both a continuation and a culmination of her artistic journey, and it brings me great joy to witness her creative essence thriving within me and my art.
