Standup Women - Female pioneers of standup comedy
People have been cracking jokes since the dawn of language. But not until the 20th century could you get paid to stand up on a stage for an hour and make people laugh. And while women have always had something funny to say, and participated in the sketch comedy of vaudeville, music hall, and movies, and later TV, they didn't find it easy at first to break into standup and present comedy on their own.
We will examine the charts of women who broke through the barriers and see how well they match the astrological signature for comedians. We'll also look at charts of significant events in the history of women's standup. Maybe we'll identify the special key that signifies the drive and moxie it took for them to establish themselves on the standup stage.
Bio: Miriam Klamkin began studying astrology in 1974, and has been teaching astrology and personal development through classes, workshops, and private consultations since 1991. She holds the Certificate of Astrological Studies from the Astrology Institute and the Level II Certificate from the National Council for Geocosmic Research.
